Beautiful Bedrooms

I am loving this quilt, the colour, quilting and simplicity of it.

Gorgeous window seat full of plush cushions

I love quilts and throws, can't seem to get enough of them.  I love the simple stitching and neutral colour of this one.
These bedrooms all evoke a tranquil restful mood, a place to rest and relax.

Reading Nook

I really like this white room with the display of childrens artwork and the green cushions giving pops of colour in an otherwise simple space.

I love the idea of having a place where the kids can curl up comfotably with a book. The space above looks simple and inviting, there are a few books scattered which can be rotated and importantly a light for reading overhead.

And another cute nook!

Apples and Eggs

Yesterday Toby was begging to make an apple and egg cake.  This is what we came up with...

Apple and Cinnamon Tea Cake by Donna Hay

185g (6oz) Butter, softened
1/2 Tsp ground cinnamon
2/3 cup castor sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/3 cup milk
topping
4 small green apples, peeled, halved and cored
1 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp ground cinamon
1/4 cup apricot jam (jelly)

Preheat oven to 160 degrees (325F)
Place butter, cinnamon and sugar in bowl and beat until light and creamy.
Gradually add eggs, beat well
Sift flour and baking powder over butter mixture, add milk and stir until combined.
Line base of 22cm (9inch) springform tin with non stick baking paper and spoon in mixture.

Topping
Cut a row of deep slits in each apple half, arrange over the top of cake mixture,
Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over apples.
Bake for 50mins.
Brush cake with warm jam and return to oven fopr 10 mins or until cooked when tested with a skewer.
Serve warm with thick cream.

It satisfied his criteria, tasted yum and was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Have You Discovered Cornflower Blue?

Cornflower blue is a gorgeous online boutique for kids.  Their aim is to help people while stylishly dressing our little ones.  Their clothing is ethically made, some of it is organic, and proceeds from every sale go to support children in orphanges in India.

They also have a program for recycling clothing.  In Australia there is more clothing recycled than can be used or sold.  So once your child has grown out of the clothes they ask that you send them back and they will give them to the children in India who have a greater need for them.

How cute are those red shoes and I just love the little t-shirt above!

Little Red Riding Hood

I had a bit of spare time this weekend to make some little novelty pillows for kids.  A bird and owl for the boys and a Red Riding Hood for Missy.

I really enjoyed having a bit of time to do some extra sewing that was just for fun.

Fred

I has been rather cold the last few days and I have been looking for some warmer clothes.  These Fred Bare clothes from this winters collection look fun.  I especially like the outfit in the top two pictures, wonder if it is on sale anywhere?
